Gaskin, Danjuma

Joined MPAACT in 1992 as a percussionist for the touring company. He has studied various traditional percussion forms from the African diaspora including Cuban, Colombian, Peruvian, Brazilian, as well as traditional West-African forms. Through his ongoing study of the music, Mr. Gaskin strives to find ways of unifying the cultures of the Diaspora as well as celebrating their diversity. In 1999, Mr. Gaskin received a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and returned to MPAACT after a five-year hiatus incorporating both his technical and artistic talents. He now performs as both a musician and a scenographic designer.
