Danjuma Gaskin

Danjuma joined MPAACT in 1992 as a percussionist for the touring company. He has studied various traditional percussion forms from the African diaspora including Cuban, Colombian, Peruvian, Brazilian, as well as traditional West-African forms. Through his ongoing study of the music, Danjuma strives to find ways of unifying the cultures of the Diaspora celebrating their diversity. In 1999, he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and returned to MPAACT after a five-year hiatus to contribute both his technical and artistic talents. He now performs as both a musician and a scenographic designer.
